The Day of Your Surgery

  •   If you experience any health changes (i.e.. fever, cough, flu) between your most recent visit to your doctor and the day of surgery, notify your surgeon.
  •   DO NOT EAT OR DRINK anything (including water) after midnight the night before surgery, unless otherwise instructed by your surgeon.
  •   Bathe or shower the morning of surgery to minimize the chance of infection.  Do not apply lotion or moisturizers.
  •   Please wear loose/comfortable clothes which can easily slip over  bandages and/or dressings.  For shoulder or facial surgery patients we recommend a shirt/blouse with front buttons.
  •   Bring your glasses, and a case to put them in (remember to remove your contact lenses prior to coming in).
  •   Please leave all jewelry and valuables at home.  Remove any body piercing(s).
  •   Follow all  specific written instructions from your physicians and bring a copy with you.
  •   Bring a list of all medications you are currently taking, including strength and dosage. (i.e.. Allegra 190mg/daily)
  •   Bring the appropriate insurance information/ ID card(s).
  •   Children may bring a special toy or blanket, if desired.
  •   You must bring  a friend or family member to drive you home, and stay with you the day of surgery.
  •   Pediatric patients should be accompanied by two (2) adults, one to drive and one to take care of the child.
